Why Canadian Education
Canada, proudly known as an "Educational Superpower," is celebrated for its exceptional academic standards and consistently ranks among the top educational systems globally. This recognition comes from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), highlighting Canada's commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative, and inclusive education.
Canadian Students Excel in PISA Assessments
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluates the knowledge and skills of 15-year-old students in mathematics, reading, and science. These tests measure how well students can solve complex problems, think critically, and communicate effectively. This provides valuable insights into how well education systems are preparing students for real-life challenges and future success. Canada first participated in PISA in 2000.
Canadian Students’ Performance
Canadian students consistently perform above the OECD average in all three domains:
Reading: In PISA 2022, Canadian students had an average score of 527, significantly higher than the OECD average of 4931.
Mathematics: Canadian students scored an average of 516, compared to the OECD average of 4902.
Science: In science, Canadian students achieved an average score of 518, surpassing the OECD average of 4892.
Top Performers and Proficiency Levels
- A higher proportion of Canadian students were top performers (Level 5 or 6) in at least one subject compared to the OECD average.
- More Canadian students achieved a minimum proficiency level (Level 2 or higher) in all three subjects than the OECD average.
These results highlight the strength of Canada’s education system in fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills among students.
